Vancouver Day: 1

Vancouver is a coastal city located in the province of British Columbia, Canada. It is known for its stunning natural beauty, including mountains, forests, and the Pacific Ocean. Vancouver is consistently ranked among the most livable cities in the world due to its high quality of life, cultural diversity, and vibrant arts scene. The city offers a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and kayaking. Vancouver is also home to a thriving film industry and has hosted the Winter Olympics in 2010.

More than 42% of all registered people living in the Vancouver are of Asian descent with 25% Chinese. I am staying in a 2 bedroom apartment in a house in the suburbs. A large % of the houses create space for guests, Airbnb et all. The demand for property by foreign buyers has pushed the property prices out of reach of citizens which has become a major issue.

The Sky Train is 5 min walk from the apartment and the trip into down town is 10min. There is a big contrast between live in residence and foreign owners who are not on site. Just have to look at the gardens to see the difference.

Essential, city tour and Stanley park cycle tour. Vancouver is quite a small City and the 3 hour cycle tour took me all over from the financial district, millionaires row suburb and the Honda fireworks floating barge which hosts 3 different Nations in a competition over 3 Saturdays, this attracts over 500 000 people per event.

All the houses in this area are multi functional, owners area and Airbnb.

Just outside the centre, 1000 acres of an incredible untouched park.

Totem poles in the park. There were native Canadians living on the island and were told to leave…displaced and relocated into reserves…kinda heard this story before.

Red Cedar, have to hug this guy…500 years old. Cannot be burned. The thickness of the bark (cork like) and the beaches are 15m above the ground Klepp it alive for a veeeerry long time

Not for the faint hearted….R170 for a pint….
