After a big walk about town and environs I signed up for a 3 hour gastronomic experience through Gastown yup 1 word. Was a bit early so had a stater, in the same place the tour was going to have its 1st. Stop. The manager was really cool and she said if the tour starts at the beer house she would give me a celebrity welcome….oh boy. She shouted across heaps of people…Hey Stu welcome…tour group were perplexed, got to carry being famous you know…..

All the brewing equipment is run by steam. They were preparing the barley for the next batch when we arrived…

Off to the streets of Gastown

Fun fact 1:Jimmy Hendricks Mother lived in Gastown and was a regular visitor 2: Green Peace movement was conceived and plans as we know them today from the corner pub just to the left of the steam clock….

Ginkgo tree. One of the oldest species of tree originally from China. Drops very stinky fruit when the make and female plant succeeds (ha ha) to pollinate. Has a unique leaf structure and fossils of this exact tree date back 170 million years ago. How cool, planted but far away from the males for obvious reasons and are often referred to living fossils…

Watching the goings on, street buskers all very nice. I walked to the China Town station to catch train back to apartment and our guide warned us about homeless peeps. What he failed to mention is that for 4 blocks there are drug addicts all properly juiced up, lying, pooing, peeing, having episodes slumped over each other. You have to walk in the street to avoid. Cops do nothing…quite shocking really..
